The Office of Principal Scholz:
In this very busy week of Parent/ Teacher Conferences (Wednesday, October 24) and Grandparents Day (Thursday, October 25), I am writing to give you all of the details for our early release day on Friday, October 26.
As you know, we are approaching our 100th anniversary as a school, and we are making a commitment to reconnect with our founders in honor of our anniversary. On Friday, we have a very special day planned for all students, in order for you to experience our history first hand.

Students will report to school as usual, and regular attendance will be counted and taken as normal.

After homeroom, all  male students will board a bus and head to St. Francis De Sales Seminary in St. Francis.

There you will be greeted by Fr. John Hemsing, rector of the Seminary. You will learn about Fr. Joseph Van Treeck, pastor of St. Mary’s parish in 1920, and the person who dreamed about and founded St. Mary’s / Catholic Central High School. You will also have a tour of the grounds, visit the Salzmann Library (one of the richest archives in the nation) and meet with Fr. Luke Strand ( head of vocations)  and Kevin Durand, one of two CCHS alumni who are currently in priestly formation at the Seminary.

After homeroom, all  female students will board a bus and head to the School Sisters of Notre Dame Mother House in Elm Grove. There you will be greeted by S. Stephanie Spandl, director of vocations and outreach for the SSND. You will hear about the history of the SSND, their founding Charisms, and have a chance to meet Sisters who actually taught and served at St. Mary’s / Catholic Central High School. You will also tour the convent grounds and visit the grave of Mother Caroline Friess, the SSND in charge of education in all of North America for the Sisters….at the ripe old age of 27!
All students  will spend the morning at the Seminary / Mother House, and return to CCHS between 12:30 and 1:00 PM (depending on traffic and such).
NO LUNCH WILL BE SERVED.
